GFWC SOMO SALA CIRCLE Is a local civic club which is also recognized as a Federated Women's Club at both the state, national and world levels. The members of this club have been involved in almost all of the community improvement projects that have made Morristown the fantastic community that it is including such organizations as ALPS, YES, Rose Center, and The Morristown Hamblen Library just to name a few. Membership in GFWC SOMO SALA CIRCLE is open to women who want to provide volunteer service in any form to the world. What is GFWC of Tennessee The General Federated Women's Clubs of Tennessee is a Volunteer service organization whose members are united by a dedication to personal and community improvement. Since 1896 the federated women of Tennessee have worked together to build and support libraries, procure pure food and drug laws, protect the rights of children, promote safety, encourage healthy lifestyles, and promote education and the arts. We are diverse and united in our efforts. Our parent organization, the General Federation of Women's Clubs, is headquartered in Washington, D.C. We are the largest and oldest women's service organization in the world with clubs in all fifty states, all US territories, and in twenty countries worldwide. We are nonsectarian, nonprofit, and nonpartisan. GFWC members include teachers, business owners, social workers, elected officials, medical professionals, corporate executives, students, and retirees. Although there is considerable diversity in ages, interests, and experiences, these women are united by a heightened sense of responsibility to themselves, their communities, nation, and world.
